Hi Laura
I am definitely a strange test patient! LOL
I have had some tests done since the time release and my numbers all say that I am slightly hyper, but my symptoms have still been hypo, hence the diagnosis of cellular resistance to the thyroid hormone. It seems that I am one of these people who need large doses of T3 to make a dent because only part of that amount will actually reach my cells.
Now I am trying to figure out how to take the T3 without the ups and downs. The compounding pharmacy makes the T3 in 7.5 caps, so I can alter the dose if I need to. I read something on Dr. Lowe's site which explains that time release T3 isn't as effective as cytomel because it gets broken down by the digestive system before it has time to work. I take my cytomel under the tongue so I wonder if that plays into it.
Are you still considering taking time released T3? My doc says that his patients generally do well on it, I think I am an exception to the rule.
This will be interesting to follow...sorry your the test subject! lol It does make sense what you are saying....taking both. Hmmmm heh if your doctor is willing to let you try it then go for it. You won't know unless you try right?
Is your time release dosage high enough?? When was your last labs done? Have you had them done since doing the time release?
Hi Laura
I was supposed to see my doc today but he is out sick. The last time I saw him he agreed that I seemed to have some type of cellular resistance and that I should take a larger dose of T3. There does not seem to be much of a problem with hyper symptoms for me, so he said I could raise the dose. He wanted me to be on the T3 sustained release instead of the cytomel, though. If I go back to the cytomel along with some sustained release T3, it will actually be slightly less T3 than I am on now, but it will be mostly immediate release rather than sustained release, if that makes sense. I seem to need way more of the sustained type than I did with the cytomel. I'm not sure why...
Do you think combining a sustained release med with an immediate release med is a bad thing? Or does it matter?
That is a lot of T3.....I think I would ask doctor first. You need to be careful and watchful for heart palps with large amount of T3 meds.
What is your doctor saying about this?
