daughter with hypothyriodism

My 12 year old daughter was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 1 month ago. Her TSH levels were in the upper 400's.  She was started on 50mcg of synthroid.  Two weeks post diagnosis her T4 was normal but her TSH was still high (in the 200's) so the Dr. increased her to 100mcg.  Everything has improved with her except for the fact that her thighs are very very painful (only when she walks or puts pressure on them) and it has not improved with the synthroid.  She walks awkwardly to help with the pain and cannot run or play sports.  Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It's all muscle pain. No joint or skin involvement.

Thanks to you and beckyinva for responding.

My daughter recently was diagnosed as well. Her levels were not near that high. After the diagnosis, we found a vitamin d deficiency as well. Her level was 11. SHe just turned 13.

You don't mention if it's the skin or the bones.  If it's the bones, I'd have her calcium and vit D levels checked.
