I am personally going to have eye surgery for my graves disease in two weeks , and plastic surgery to fix the lower eye lid. any advise would be appreciated or concerns i should no about, thanks
Make sure yout Thyroid eye disease is monitored by an opthamologist. I had the RAI/TT, & my eyes remained the same with slight enlargement, dry eyes, gritty, burning, & this has been for the last 15yrs. I do use a lot of eye drops & eye oniment (sp?).
Thank you. I saw my endro yesterday and she gave the go-ahead. She was just a bit concerned about my calcium. She said we will have to watch that quite closely.
I am the same...RAI & TT (june and Sept. 2008) and my antibodies went into remission.
I had watery eyes for a few weeks after RAI but also had them before RAI.
As long as your levels are stable , then there should be no reason why you shouldnt concieve but you may need more T4 med whilst pregnant and be monitored closely.
I've had the TT in January 2010 due to Graves disease and Papillary Thryoid Cancer.
I was assured by my endocrinolgist and surgeon that after the surgery my Graves symptoms will not come back - and they haven't. My eye issues were minor (gritty, dry, sand in eye feeling and very little enlargement) but they have gotten much better after the surgery.
