help with sono results

there is normal homogeneous echogenitity of the thyroid gland.  The right lobe thyroid gland measures 5.9cm length by 1.5cm AP by 2.1cm width and left lobe 4.8cm length by 2.1cm AP by 2.1cm width.  The isthmus measures 0.5cm thickness.  there is no significant increased thyroid gland vascularity.
within the anterior right upper lobe thyroid gland, there is a 1.1cm x0.9cm x 0.6cm hypoechoic nodule.
within the left upper pole thyroid gland, there is a complex partially internally cystic 2.2cm x 1.8cm x 1.5cm thyroid nodule with this nodule containing some areas of peripheral vascularity.
I am scheduled for a needle biopsy about a month from next week. none of the doctors are really telling me what all this means or what kind of odds or solutions we are looking at.  my regular doctor did not even tell me there were two cysts only told me about the larger one found out about the smaller one when I read this report I just picked up to take to the endo I am now seeing. my regular doctor told me not to worry it is not cancer but the endo is doing a biopsy so should I be worried? and what does this lab report mean? all is greek to me.

"there is normal homogeneous echogenitity of the thyroid gland" statement  contradicts with the finding of nodules.
The right lobe thyroid gland measures 5.9cm length by 1.5cm AP by 2.1cm volume is 9 cu cm, 2 times larger than average
Left lobe 4.8cm length by 2.1cm AP by 2.1cm width volume approx 10 cu cm
also more than 2 times larger than average
Total volume about 19 cu cm average 7.5, over 18 cu cm-- clinical goiter
The isthmus measures 0.5cm 2 times thicker than average
within the anterior right upper lobe thyroid gland ---next to the Adam's apple
there is a 1.1cm x 0.9cm x 0.6cm hypoechoic nodule (has higher risk for malignancy by 10% that other nodules (15 % total)
may need biopsy
here is a complex partially internally cystic 2.2cm x 1.8cm x 1.5cm thyroid nodule with this nodule containing some areas of peripheral vascularity ( no blood vessels inside -probably benign) 5 % chance of cancer on this one
The report is not indicate abnormal lymph nodes or calcifications (if none is present- the odds of cancer are low)
Normal blood flow within the gland - indicates no inflammatory process
It is common practice to repeat  the ultrasound before biopsy to rule out imaging artifacts and confirm the findings.

Have you had thyroid blood tests?  Are you on thyroid meds?  Do you have symptoms?  What prompted your doctor to order a thyroid U/S?

All my blood work came back normal except cholesterol a little high, and blood sugar a little high. I am a borderline diabetic is basically what he told me.  I originally went to the ER for trouble swallowing and keeping food down where they diagnosed a hiatal hernia. I went to ER a second time still not able to keep food down feels like it gets stuck in my throat. Also pain in neck, back of my head, right arm, and right side of my chest. also numbness and tingling in right arm, shoulder, and hand. They found the larger cyst on the left and recommended sono. my doctor did the sono and told me about the cyst on the left and said the pain in my shoulder chest and arm had nothing to do with the cyst and referred me to an endo. My doctor did not send any of my sonos or ct scans to him I picked those up yesterday to take to the endo myself. my doctor sent me for an echocardiogram because my blood pressure is at stroke level when taken in right arm and only a little high when taken in the left arm, (every doctor that takes my blood pressure freaks out on this) echo was normal.  also when ct was done at ER and even now the lymph nodes in the back of my neck swell up they gave me steroids for this and antibiotics even though I showed no signs of infection endo thought that was crazy. still drinking mostly protein shakes and eating soft foods but even with that I gag and usually if I do manage to get anything down it does not take long before it all comes right back up. and I keep gaining weight 15 lbs in 3 months.

Please post your thyroid blood work.  Thyroid test reference ranges are notoriously flawed, so even if your tests are in normal range, you can have thyroid dysfunction.  When you post tests, please also post the reference range from your own lab report as ranges vary lab to lab.  A good way to do that is to post the result with the range following it in parentheses.
