hypothyroidism levothoxrine medicine ringing in ears?

I am taking .025 + 1/2 another pill (so . 35)   levothoxrine for hypothyroid.  I am barely hypothyroid.  Amongst my problems - constant ringing in my ears as if I went to a loud rock concert.  Is this from the hypothyroid, or from taking too much medicine to combat it?  Anyone else with these issues?

thank you

Hate to bump an old post, but does anyone have any more insight on the ears ringing bit?  It started when I started my meds...

You are on a low dose of T4 med...I do suggest that you get rested every 4 weeks until your levels stabilise.
If you think Hypo Hashi's is bad...try Graves Hyper...that was the pits! lol
Good luck.

Yes, I've had Hashimoto for some time.

So you did have antibody testing for Hashimoto ?

Hashi (hypo) has antibodies that destruct the thyroid gland, not necessarily at a known rate either.

Hashimoto is an a$$hole whoever he is, for causing me all these issues.  Seriously today ive got ringing in my ears and a sore neck.  Tamra has been peer coaching me through all of this and i appreciate it.   Lazy Moose, what do you have?  hashimoto?

Before stopping, get freeT3 and freeT4 tested like tamra said. You might just be getting too much med.

Note: If you have Hashimoto hypothyroid, you will get worse and will need med somday just to function at all (to live).

You need to learn about what you have now, NOT ignore it.

If you dont know the difference between Hashimoto and just plain old hypothyroid, maybe repost of google it. Hashimoto is forever and will get worse over time.

I spent most of my morning at the Dr. trying to figure out why my ears are ringing so bad.  I went to my regular doctor and also a ear specialist.  Both of them cannot find anything medically wrong with me to cause my ear ringing.  I think im just going to stop the thyroid medicine since I was only borderline hypothyroid.  Do you think if the ringing was caused by the medicine it will stop once I stop using it?

I would get tinnitus when my freeT3 or freeT4 levels were too high. People with Graves who are hyperthyroid, too much hormone, commonly get the tinnitus (ear ringing).

You may be on too much hormone. Get to a good endo and get your frees tested. You may need to back off for a while.
