Anti-thyroid meds are quite safe during pregnancy so your Pharmacist needs to do his homework.
You are more at risk by NOT taking them and so is your baby.
Dont stop taking them.

thank you for your post. have you ever had this problem your self? has anyone you known went through it? they put me on the medicine methazole, i think that is how you spell it , tring to get my levels down b4 the surgery........ but, my pharamcist told me, that by taking that med, it can cause fetal harm, or even fetal death....... so , i am very concerned. thank you for all your help.

Surgery is recommended in pregnant women who can't be regulated on medication or who have suspicious spots on their thyroid. RAI for Graves is not recommended for pregnant women, otherwise, the doc might have suggested that.

The key is that after surgery, you will obviously become hypothyroid with no thyroid left. It is important to take adequate thyroid hormone, and to make sure your FT4/FT3 levels are up. If your levels are too low, it has sometimes been known to lower the IQ of the baby.

If you don't feel comfortable with surgery, seek a second opinion.

If you decide to get the surgery, please use a surgeon who specializes in thyroid. Many people, with good surgeons, get thyroid surgeries and go home the next day with zero to little complications.

Best of luck!
