iv been in and out of the doctors now for about a year, and been having bloods for my thyroid as i was having bad anxiety attacks and was constantly heavy headed and felt like my eyes had no focus, i also have thinning of my hair and don't get regular periods anymore. this 1st blood test came back as overactive thyroid a month later 2nd blood test came back also overactive a month after that a 3rd blood test shown my thyroid levels was under so i went back i month later again and they was over. i then seen a specialist at the hospital who confirmed and wrote to my gp saying i have autoimmune thyroid disease as it was under again wen he tested at the hospital 1 blood test after that it went a tiny bit over again. i didn't get medicated for this as the doctor then said she was going to monitor my bloods for some time so iv currently had 2 blood tests in the last month an half  and my doctor said im ok as the blood results have come back my thyroid was level. i was explained to that the autoimmune meant that there's anti bodies in me attacking my thyroid gland and im wondering even if my blood levels that check my thyroid are all at a normal level could there still be something wrong with me as im still suffering if not worse side affect anxiety attacks no periods for months and months constant heavy head dizziness tremors. Id be grateful if any body had any information about this and could share it with me id like to no exactly what mt doctor ment by autoimmune thyroid disease, is there any medication to fix it and did any body suffer any of the symptoms i have now and has any one got better from this. is autoimmune thyroid disease same as graves disease and what do i do. also is there a separate test i can have done to check if the antibodies in me are still attacking the thyroid gland has anyone else ever had ok blood results but still got  thyroid condition and how do i get it treated.

Turns out I had the autoimmune first I think not sure. Then the hyperthyroidismi. I thought I was going to die from the symptoms. Tremors almost to the point of seizure. Heat intolerance, resless. rapid heart rate, I have 8 nodules on the thyroid. I am now going to a surgeon to see if they are taking this out. I am wondering anyone had Thyroid removed and feel better? Did the autoimmune disease go away? I am on methamazale now and feel some what better however I still am losing hair, shaky heat intolerance and still dealing with the autoimmune disease that are Sjrugrens spelled wrong. and Renaryds spelled wrong also.. Anyway Help. I have lost half of my teeth due to dry mouth and my vision is failing I am taking restesis. I am in a small town with some poor medical care, I have had to diagnose myself for several years. What is our world coming to? Oh the test did show I was correct!!!!

I'm diagnosed with autoimmune disease, called " Hashimoto's "
unfortunately this disease is untreatable, Atg (Anti anti thyroglobulin ) and ATPO( Anti-thyroid peroxidase) are attacking our own thyroid gland so it's normal for us to suffer from tiredness, mood swinging, heavy headed and many others like irregular periods ...etc you can search on the internet for the other symptoms( i'm also very cold in all the seasons and many more)
After getting you in the right picture, you should now change your endocrinologist, She should have prescribed you medications immediately because anti bodies needs to be reduces as soon as possible or they will destroy your thyroid ! search for another and better doc !
she would prescribed you synthroid like leuvothyroxine or cytomel...and an echo for your thyroid because you might have goiter ( enlarged thyroid glande) because of the antibodies attack..

I had Grave's disease ( aka Hyperthyroidism) which is the over production of thyroid hormones. It causes extreme anxiety, heart palpitations, loss of hair, irregular periods, sweating, weight loss and trembling, among other symptoms. I was diagnosed by a Endocrinologist who prescribed Levothyroxine. Because my thyroid blood test levels were all over the place, I elected to take a radioactive iodine pill which slowly killed off my thyroid altogether. I have been now taking the levothyroxine and my levels more normal.

We need to know what tests they've been running, to determine whether your thyroid is "over" or "under" and how they determined that you have an autoimmune condition... They would have had to run different tests for that.

Please post whatever test results you have, and be sure to include reference ranges, which vary country to country, lab to lab.

I have been suffering for 7 years and only recently found out I have an autoimmune disease. Still not sure witch one yet. Doing lost of tests. I joined this site to help find answers. I can tell you that what ever this is, it has affected every part of my body. I see double, have osteoporosis, lost all my teeth, sleep on average about 5 hours a day. I now have heart problems too. I have had the worst depression. My hair is falling out. Have had to stop working 6 months ago, because I can no long deal with the stress. It has been one hell of a ride. I came close to taking my own life, it was so bad. This thyroid disease is really hard to diagnose and if you don't have a good doctor, it will be even harder. Scream to the top of your lungs until your doctor listens to you, You have to be treated, left untreated you will get sicker.
I hope you are getting answers now as it has been a while since you posted this. And I wish you all the strenght to get through this.
