Well, your GP is mistaken.  Just because your test results are  within the so-called "normal" range does not mean that they are adequate for YOU.  because the ranges have never been corrected like was done for TSH, the ranges are far too broad to be used as a Pass/Fail  decision.  Instead, as I mentioned , a good thyroid doctor will treat you clinically by testing and adjusting FT3 and FT4 (within the reference ranges) as necessary to relieve symptoms.  Many of our members report that symptom relief for them required that FT3 was adjusted into the upper part of its range and FT4 adjusted to at least midpoint of its range.

I think it is time for you find a good thyroid doctor.  If you look at this site you will find a listing of Top Thyroid Doctors in the Nevada area.  There is one that was especially interesting, in Henderson, based on reviews written by his patients.  Is this of interest to you?

You need Thyroid meds.  Period!

menstrual issues are common when hypothyroid.

Get on Thyroid meds and get your FT4 mid range and FT3 closer to the upper 1/3 of the range and you may find your symptoms to be relieved.

Why Dr's don't believe in actually looking at the FT3 as that is the ONLY thing your body actually uses and understand that that is the ONLY thing that you need to have properly  adjusted to relieve symptoms is completely beyond logic.

You are Hypo pure and simple.  Until you find a Dr. that believes that and starts to treat you, you will continue to feel like crap.

ok so i just got back from my gp.....as i feared she told me that theres absolutly nothing wrong with me because my tests were in the low normal range that means just that! its normal! and the weight, hairloss, fatigue, paper thin nails, memory loss, dizzyness, etc, are from depression so my rx was celexa.....the problem is im not suffering from depression no where in my list of issues was sadness, crying, etc, until now.......she completely bypassed the fact that i am almost completely vegitarian i only eat maybe once a day and im almost 250.....i am not just sitting on the sofa eating hohos and icecream i dont eat stuff like that!.....i dont know what to do anymore

Just because your test results are in the ranges does not mean they are adequate for YOU.  the ranges are too broad for that to be the case.  Many of our members report that symptom relief for them required that FT3 was adjusted to the upper part of the range and FT4 adjusted to the midpoint of its range.  Remember that symptom relief should be all important, not test results.

hello......i wanted to add a bit more info
my dr ran these tests because my thyroid was enlarged.... she is a gp and this was my first time seeing her....she seems very smart and eager to listen to symptoms but after looking at my thyroid and feeling it she told me all of my symptoms......a  bit scary how a stranger knew everything i have been going thru.....but im afraid with the test results in normal range  i may be back to square 1 :( .....are there any other tests you would suggest?
i did get calcium and b12 tests too
they are as followed
calcium 8.6 (8.6-10.2)
vitamin b12 367 (200-1100)

With those symptoms and your FT3 and FT4 being relatively low in their ranges, it appears that you are hypothyroid and need medication.   Your TSH seems to be giving a false indication that your thyroid status is okay.  TSH is a pituitary hormone that is affected by so many variables that it is inadequate as a diagnostic for thyroid.  At best it is an indicator, to be considered along with more important indicators such as symptoms and also Free T3 and free T4 levels.  FT3 is the most important thyroid hormone test because it largely regulates metabolism and many other body functions.  Studies have also shown that FT3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while FT4 and TSH correlated very poorly.

A good thyroid doctor will treat a hypo patient clinically by testing and adjusting FT3 and FT4 as necessary to relieve symptoms, without being constrained by resultant TSH levels.  Symptom relief should be all important, not test results.  If you want to read more about clinical treatment, this is a good link.

Totie is also correct that you need additional testing.

Did they test your B12, Calcium, or Vit D?

Being low on those could also cause some of your symptoms.
