I am wondering what type of inflammation it is likely to be. I should also mention I have two nodules, one is 1.4 cm and the other .8 cm.
My specialist (endo) is not testing for either of those things on my next blood test that she wants me to get done in a couple of weeks. They are not indicated on the requisition, just the T3,T4, and TSH. Why would my endo leave those out? Maybe because I told my endo I thought I had the flu a few weeks ago, and my endo is assuming it's subacute?
It looks like thyroiditis (inflammtion of thyroid)
Next step most likely will be a blood test to determine what type of thyroiditis it is.
Elevated TPO antibodies will point to autoimmune (Hashimoto’s type)
Elevated ESR will be consistent with subacute type
My 24 hour uptake was less than 1%. what might this mean?
(when I thought I saw 7% at the one hour reading on my shoulder, it was probably .7% I'm guessing).
6 hour reading has very low significance
It was the 1 hour reading. I think it might be done differently in the us - 6 & 24 hours. I guess here we do it at one hour and then twenty four. It was the reading taken with the probe at my upper arm. So far I'm unable to find normal readings for one-hour uptake levels.
If that reading was obtained after 24 hours, 7 % is low (normal between 15 to 30 during 24 hour period),
Such reading combined with low TSH most likely means thyroid inflammation (hormones from damged tissue are leaking into the blood stream)
