A girl in my small office is having this done and I may be pregnant, is it ok to be around her the day she takes the pill?

I don't know what effect it would have on a pregnant woman.  I did just have the uptake myself though, and the docs told me it's such a small dose that it is less than what you even get in food. They told me there was no chance of passing anything on to my 5 year old son.  I don't know if this is true for everyone though, just my own experience with my docs!

In all honesty.....usually it is I-121 that is used in uptakes (at least it is here in Australia) and not I-131.
But your collegue is still carrying around Radioactive Iodine in her.
Dont take any risks.

She should not have contact with the public for at least 3 days.

Hello and welcome!

I am not 100% sure not being a Doctor.  I know that after RAI I - 131 the patient is in isolation for a few days ...  You may want to call your Dr to see what he/she thinks.
