reluctant to start meds - feeling very energetic and losing weight.

while waiting for a second opinion from docs...

i am VERY reluctant to start meds, especially since i am "suffering from extreme energy!" i can't sit still. i am usually warm. and i am losing weight. so not hypo-t! the only symptom is antibodies - tpo and tgab.

any input?

thank you in advance.

so...diagnosed with hashi's, and temporarily hyper, with hyper symptoms - not hypo - should i just hold off on the meds???

i am hoping to get my md to work with me on this. i think it might be best to wait until hypo symptoms show and/or are confirmed with blood work.

i can only begin to imagine the trouble if i start with levoxyl, nature-throid, or the like (choices are limited because of corn sensitivity) when i am on the hyper side of this disease.

taking hypo meds while hyper has got to be begging for trouble! right?

IF you have Hashis...As your thyroid dies off it may go through period where it tries to recover and puts out more hormone and then slips back hypo. With Hashis it will always ulitmately end up hypo because the antibodies are destroying the gland and nothing stops that progression.
Whether to take meds or not depends on your labs. If you are at a low TSH you do not need synthroid (et al) if your TSH is high and rising you probably want to try at least a starter level dose.
T4 replacement won't make you gain any weight that's for sure.
Talk to your doc.

If you are autoimmune hypo, you might be going through the hyper stage.  Call your doctor and tell him so he can make the decision whether he wants you to take them or not.
