results for thyroid uptake

In November my TSH was "extremely Low" according to my Dr.  They did a T3 and that was borderline low/normal. In December I had a thyroid uptake scan. After 4 hours my thyroid uptake was less than 2%, they told me to come back the next morning at 24 hours and that showed "virtually no uptake."  I finally got a copy of the scan results and was told to come back after the first of the year for another TSH.  I feel so tired, and I just love to sleep.  I hate that my boys probably just think their mom is so lazy... am I getting the run around or does it just take this long?

Low RAI uptake with low TSH is usually present at the beginning of thyroiditis thyroid inflammation.
85% of  T3 is produced outside of the thyroid [converted from T4] and alone will not give enough information
You need FREE T4 level to be checked

Don't think you are getting the runaround.  The time interval may just be to give your body a little time before retesting the TSH level.  Sounds like there is good evidence of low thyroid activity and hypothyroidism, yet the TSH was low also.  I understand that this may indicate the need for pituitary testing as well.  If you want to get a further indication of your metabolism/ thyroid function, try checking your normal temperature several times a day for several days and comparing the average to the optimal of 98.6.  Here is a link on temperature and metabolism.  I expect your temperature results will confirm why you feel so tired and need to sleep a lot.
