I get 'tingling' in the fingers and hands and also 'numbness' if I am hypo.
But it is best to get it checked.
Hope that helps.
What do you mean by "stoke like" feeling? If you think you are having minor strokes, then you need to get to the emergency room. My Grandmother had a severe stroke at 75. She lived 8 more years after that, but she was never the same. So not something to take chances with. I think she had several small strokes that she ignored, before the big one. There is now a shot that they can give you soon after it happens to help minimize the damage, however, this was either not availabe then , or she didn't get to the hospital in time. The word "Stroke" really scares me, as I have witnessed how devistating it can be. Please don't take any chances Sheila. Call your doctor ASAP or go to the ER if necessary.
I am hoping the tingling and the stroke like feeling are symptoms of this, cause I have no clue if it is a complete other situation.
And you will..I promise.
Log down all your symptoms DAILY in a note book then you will start to recognise a pattern and slowly get your levels right.
Baby steps are the secret.
Hugs
Thank you all so much for your advice and taking your precious time to worry about me, it means more to me then you all could ever imagine. My battle has been a very lonely one to say the least and I am Blessed to have found you all, SO FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART I THNAK YOU. I did however speak to my Dr. about 15 min ago on the phone and he told me to not take my meds for 3 days then go back on the 100mcg for about 4-5 days and then call him, we will do my labs again after that. Stupid me forgot to get my exact lab #'s but all I know is a few weeks earlier I was at 8. somrthing on TSH which was still hypo but no where near the 46 I was at in December, so he started me on 112 MCG but now I am seeming to be back into the horrible hyper stage and neither is fun, but I think I would almost rather the hypo then this hyper Graves feeling, I would not wish this on even my X-Husband ( okay have to have a little humor right! ) I truly feel for any human to have to feel this way. I wish I was rich enough to have my own private Dr. so I could get treated properly, guess that will not happen too soon, seeing I am way to old to try out for American Idol...lol okay another J/K. Anyway, I pray this works with me going off a few days and then back on. I would still appreciate all your input on my treatment. I am willing to do what ever it takes but Good Lord I can not go back wards, I need to live again.
You can always rent a scooter chair at Disney World. We've been there several times and I've often considered it as there is endless walking. If you use one of these, then you and your family will get up front seats to all the shows and be first in lines! Not so bad!!! Don't you dare give up the good fight! You've already come a long way and you WILL get there-I promise! Be determined to be healthy again and except nothing less. Demand that your doctor works with you on finding just the right med. dosage and thyroid blood levels (FREE T3 and FREE t4) until you are feelig healthy again and symptom free. Except nothing less from him. It takes time and patience on your part, but he has to listen and work with you. Be strong and insistant!!!
I am no Doctor but if I was in your shoes I would take the 100mcg as it takes between a day to 3 days for your levels to drop.
I have gone hyper in the past and stopped for as long as 4 days but then 2 weeks later, I have had Hypo symptoms.
Why not try 100mcg 5 days a week and 75mcg 2 days a week?
This is the time now where your Doc is tweaking yr meds.
This is the tricky bit but one that will take time and be well worth it.
I remember having those numb feelings, the aching left leg that made me cry with such pain.
But you are now at a stage where you are 'tweaking'.
At present I take 62.5mcg 5 days a week and 50mcg 2 days a week.
I have been through ALL combinations and have found after 6 months that this combination works the best for me.
See your Doc and suggest what I have just said....but dont do it without consulting him.
Are you on Cacium/D3 combined?
I found that a Godsend as it made the thyroxin absorb better...600mcg ...1 tablet taken at night.
I stopped about 4 months ago after being on it for a year.
Ask him about the Calcium and get him to check your levels.
Sheila
Can you push this doctor to run the Free T3 and the Free T4 w/ the TSH?
Thank You so much Anne, This is in no way fun at all, how is it some people are perfect after they have a TT and then you have people like me who feels like crap? I feel very dizzy and weak and just YUCKY!! Lord I hope this gets better soon, I have not got the heart to tell my lil ones and my grandson I can not walk with them around Disney Land :( I do thank you for thinking of me, I am going to try to get on here more often. I just got tired of how I felt and nothing working for me I kind of gave up for a bit, but I am fighting again.
So good to see you on medhelp again. Stella and I have been worried about you. How are you recovering from the surgery? Alternating your Synthroid might help you get just the right dose of t4 so you won't feel hyper or hypo. My daughter (born without a gland) was on alternating doses many times when she was on Synthroid. As she grew, we were always having to "tweek" her dosage. It can make a big difference in how you feel, so talk to your doctor about it. Just wanted to say Hi and tell you that you are still in my prayers!
Anne
Thank You so much for the onfo, I am a mess and get scared that something is wrong cause most people seem to to feel better after TT. I am suppose to meet my daughters family at Disney Land next month and have no clue if I will be able to go or not due to my condition. Grrrr so tiring and aggravating :(
I can tell you that you sound just like I did after my TT in Dec. of 2007. My doc wanted me on 150 mcg of Synthroid and after about 6 weeks of that I felt like a mess. So, he lowered it 137 and I felt like a different kind of mess. Finally I asked him if I could alternate the two and that's what I've been doing ever since. I take 150 4 days a week and 137 3 days a week alternating days. I feel great now. And just know that after having a TT it takes quite awhile for your body to get regulated on meds. I didn't feel so great on the alternating thing either but he told me to stick it out and now I'm good. Of course, now he wants to add Cytomel to my mix because my T3 is low and that stuff just sent me over the edge. Stopped that nonsense and now he's got me on 137 for 2 weeks and then slowly adding Cytomel a little at a time. I feel your pain. Ask about alternating.
