I used Glaxal Base on my incision. It was recommended by my sister-in-law who is an oncology nurse.

Keep it from sun exposure for a year. I used to keep a lip chapstick with me in my pocket with SPF 15-30 in it for easy application if I got caught outside w/o sunscreen on it. I used an overall good Neutrogena with Helioplex for the summer.
Neosporyn can cause topical allergic reaction with long term usage, too, so most the docs suggest to steer clear of it.
Hope this helps. And scarves are nice and comforting agains the cold winter if you live in cold air and wear silk scarves .. they feel nice against it.

Vitamin D can minimize formation of rough scaring tissue.
Use of topical cream such as Neosporin may not help as the roughness of the scar is related to the healing of underskin layers
