visible epiglottis or lingual thyroid

Hello.
I have a visible epiglottis and I have had some thyroid problems in the past... today my throat was bothering me as it felt swollen. I was looking for some info on the internet and found this link http://www.ghorayeb.com/LingualThyroid.html that has a photo (the same one that I also attached here) that indicate what I thought was an epiglottis, as lingual thyroid... My throat in fact is in fact like that photo (the second one on the link)....
Is it normal for the epiglottis to be visible or perhaps it's instead an indication of lingual thyroid?
Should I be concerned?
Thanks

recently was advised by an anesthesiologist that I should consult an ENT about my epiglottis.  Have had a sore throat and cough lately but nothing major.  Any info

Hi.
I have seen the doctor for my previous problems with the thyroid... I have had a BAD thyroiditis this past summer that actually my doctor substitute found ...later when my actual doctor came back I guess my thyroid levels came back to normal on their own... so he never really gave much importance to my other symptoms.
I never did an echography because I then lost my job and now I do not have insurance... :-(
The thing is that sometimes my throat feels swollen... like I am going to get a bad sore throat, but I never do and it always stays like that. Nothing bad... it just bothers me. My neck also feels stiff and I've always thought it was stress...
I do not have problems swallowing (or I perhaps just a little bit ...as when you have an inflammation due to a sore throat) or breathing...
Perhaps what I see in my throat is only my epiglottis that is high and visible... and my throat anatomy is just odd... ? None of the people I have around has a visible epiglottis like mine though.... and then seeing that photo....

I viewed the site you mentioned above.  Have you been to see the doctor about this?

Are you having issues with your breathing and swollowing?
