well...

I'm being as patient as I can be.  The pain is horrible!  I've had a goister all my life, was treated with synthroid for a few years  when i was a youngster.  When I was twenty, I was diagnosted with lupus.  Now..twenty years later, thinking my symptoms were lupus related, I have no rejoined the "synthroid club" with diagnosis of hashimotos.  I do have multiple nodules with largest at 2.2 cm

The pain radiates up ny neck to my ear.  I thought it was a dental problem, but was just told it is sub acute thyroiditis.

Good Grief..how many auto immune diseases can a person have???  (I was also diagnosed with CML in January)

Why is the pain worse when I lay down at night?  Is it safe to use aspercream on neck and thyroid area?

You have to post in the expert forum, and sometimes it takes a few days for him to answer.
My sister's ex-father-in-law was a pharmacist. They have to have a doctorate as well as a pharmacological degree! Anytime I have questions about medication - they are the first one's I call!

Asking the pharmacist sounds like a great idea!  I was hoping the Web Doctor on this site would answer.

Back and forth with heat & cold should be okay. I just know that heat makes inflammation worse. I also have osteoarthritis in my back and while heat feels good while I'm using it, it hurts more after.
My hubby use to get upset when I'd fall sleep in my recliner. Get migraines and can't lay flat with them, but we talked about it, and I make sure to find ways to let him know how much he means to me when I'm able. I also explained to him that I didn't want to interrupt his sleep when I was uncomfortable and tossing and turning. That really helped. Made him feel I was more concerned about his sleep than my own.
Why don't you call a pharmacist about the aspercream? They are very knowledgable about that stuff.

I had an idea it the pain could be worse at night because of lower resistance when we are tired...but...really...the pain is baaaaaaaaaddddd!!  I'll be honest...my neck feels better with a heating pad as opposed to a cold pack...I go back and forth with hot and cold.  Doctor said use cold...my neck is going to freeze off!!  :-)

anyways...I had a could two nights of sleep; last night..found myself up and walking around; then falling asleep on the couch.  My husband takes it personally...I really feel sad about that.  Being sick really does take its toll on those that love us.

I'm anxious to know about the aspercream, I don't want to fall into anothercrises if it a bad thing to do; I haven't found anything on the internet except for a girl that got a toxic reaction and died from her sports injury/self medication

The only answer I can give you is that having one autoimmune predisposes one to have more. I know of people that have 4 & 5 autoimmunes.

We feel pain more at night because we have less distractions. Don't know about the aspercream but have read that taking ibuprophen at bedtime is helpful because it's most likely caused by the inflammatory process of Hashimoto's and ibuprophen is an anti-inflammatory. Maybe a cold pack on your neck? You don't want heat on inflammation, just makes it worse.

Hope that was a little helpful!
