what are the consequences of not removing a suspicious nodule

What could be some of the consequences if I do not remove a single nodule in my left lobe ? I  had ultrasounds and scans it showed calcifications and cold nodule I had a FNA and it could not be read. Because of my age 42 yrs. and
results from test 2 Drs recommended I have surgery to determine if it is cancerous or not?
What would you suggest? Also, what effects does it have on fertility my husband and I are trying to have a child?
Thank you.God bless........

I was in the exact same situtation almost one year ago today.  The CT I had for an unrelated issue, showed calcification and the FNA was just "suspicious".  Two docs recommended that I have it removed.  I did and it was cancer.  My recommendation is to get it out, get it over with, and get on with your life.  Even if it is cancer, it is slow growing, but also very easily treatable.  Who would want the lingering threat of cancer growing in them on a daily basis?

I'm very glad I had the surgery.  It wasn't bad.  Getting the meds right is the most difficult part.  The waiting part.  I'm not very good at waiting (if you couldn't tell...)

I am only a patient as you are, too.  But if I see the word calcifications I would either have that side out and/or ask for another FNA.  Was it inconclusive?  How long ago was it done?  My FNA's were atypical.  I was told 25% of all atypical turn into cancer if not cancer already; so in my case out that half came. They were totally benign.  but different features on my ultrasound than yours and atypical results.

How large is the single nodule?
