Sounds just like my daughter.  They have said the same thing.  She is also high functioning autism.  Our last visit with her neurologist she said probably transient tic disorder, but I am thinking tourette's cause she has been doing this since age 8 and now she is 11.  She had a 24 hour EEG and they said it was self-stimulatory repetitive movements with some verbal and motor tics.  Seizures were ruled out.
I am starting to accept some of her problems are mental, but some are neurological.  She has a therapist now that she is working with and that seems to be helping some.
I also know how it feels to have no one to talk to that is going through this.
Has your son had a 24hr EEG?
My daughters neurologist also put her on clonidine which has helped tremendously.

I hope everything works out for you.  How did your doctors visit go?

Well, I guess I can forget the therapist cause Medicaid will only pay for 12hrs a year for behavioral therapy.  That's like three months out of the year.  What is the point in even trying to get help for her if every time I have to put up a fight.  It will all fall back on me again.  So I will have to read up on how to help her with her social skills, coping skills, etc, and etc...I have to learn in a few months what therapist learn in what six to eight years.

I hope everything works out for you and your son.  Let us know how it turns out.
