I felt a pop in my head

Hello,
Last night I had just laid down to go to sleep when I felt something pop in my head. It was so severe that I actually heard it as well as felt it. I laid there waiting for something serious to happen but the only after effect was a warm sensation travelling over my whole body. The pop was on the left side of my head near the top and back. The best way to describe it is like something burst in my brain. (although I'm sure that if it had then I wouldn't be sitting here typing this)
Today I can feel a burning sensation on the inside of my skull in the same place I felt the pop.
I have suffered with daily headaches for several years and have had 2 MRI scans in the last year, both of which came back ok
I have also recently been diagnosed with vestibular dysfunction, which has caused constant dizziness for the past 8 months.
The pop wasn't anywhere near my ear so I don't think the 2 are connected.
Has anyone ever experienced a similar pop before? And does anyone have any idea what this could be.

Thanks,
Emma

I see everyone post about similar experiences and asking questions and looking for answers.... If anyone has received any answers or results from doctors regarding these sensations please share with us. We are all on this post, reading and searching for help with the same concerns, but I don't see anyone following up with results that could potentially help the rest of us in need for answers. So again I just want to emphasize the desire for actual answers and results about what we are all concerned with- brain pops/ popping sensation/ oozing blood flowing afterward/ noises/ ect. Thank you!

Hi destiny, consider what I said about the magnesium supplement - I know my post has some bizarre claims about myself but the fact is most of us are lacking in magnesium which is a vital nutrient which protects nerves and helps muscles relax and have more elasticity.
Dark green vegetables or nuts are also a good source.

In 2014 I was sitting on the bed. My mother had just died a few minutes earlir. I was crying. Then I felt a pop and heard a click sound. Since then I haven't been able to really cry. I was always empathic and cried easily. Since Aug of 2014 I have cried once at my mother's grave this memorial day. I didn't even cry at my mother's funeral. While I seem to be able to laugh and even feel joy. I feel only emptiness at anything sad. Am wondering if I had a min stroke? Any ideas.

Hi Emma, my name is Destiny and Im a young teen Ive been having this popping for almost a year. I told my mom and she thought it was nothing then it started happening during school while I was in choir practicing a dance for a school function and it made me almost fall there are times that its not bad but then some are worse and I almost fall down. I went to the nurse and she had my mom take me to my family doctor and she just said it was a pulled muscle in my skull and handed me muscle relaxers and told me to go get massages because she thinks its because of so many knots in my back and neck. Ive taken the meds but havent gone to get massages yet. The meds dont work either I was at my work today and normally turned my head and it was one of the worst ones that has happened I almost fell on boxes but caught myself and sat down now the pain lasts only around 1-2 minutes for me it was less before but the pain now stays longer. Now Im not thinking its a pulled muscle does anyone have any recommendations for me? What kind of doctor should I go see? Should I have a ct scan? Thanks in advance who answers this.

Hello, my names Michael and what ever this is I have had it for many years. A small pop, snap or preassure pain in random areas that feel like they're somewhere in my brain, I feel like I can pinpoint the location where there occur. Doesn't happen often and sometimes it can happen a few times a day.
It doesn't seem to be related to my exertion or concentration levels and although sometimes mildly painful it doesn't seem to be causing me any disability.
I have also had the pain at the base of my skull which can cause some fairly bad migraines that take many hours to subside in its own.
On top of all this I have what seems to be a rare ability to tap into what could be my sympathetic nervous system. For example I can send sensations through my whole body and individual areas like any finger and toe. I can drain the blood from my skin and appear paler, and also make myself blush at will too. I can also do what I feel is an adrenaline kick and I exercise this trick probably too often, partly as a way to desensitize my mind from future unexpected adrenaline inducing events and mostly because I like the feeling.
It could be related to my epilepsy and my efforts to monitor it to anticipate seizures.

Taking some advice from one of my doctors I take a standard Magnesium supplement and make sure I'm always hydrated before I go to sleep and doing this I have fixed the migraine and most of the brain pops - I highly recommend giving this a try and it cheap too so why not.

I don't think any of this is much to stress about, our brains are very capable of working around internal problems, we have loads of neural channels and making new ones all the time.

Good luck and good health :)

Hello Emma, my name is Andrew. I saw this post after i searched about the burst of something unknown in my head yesterday night. The truth is, this is the second time it has happened to me. And i have come to realise it only happens when i really have heavy brain activity. Please shade some more light on what leads to your pop. More so, are your thoughts before the burst well illustrated? Are they coloured? Are they to full detail?
For example; do you imagina your thoughts  in 3D, do you spine the images in your head to different angles and want small details from them: such as a moving hair piece or drop of sweat.  Please reply if you can relate

Not sure if you still receive notice of comments here but your comments sound very similar to those of a CSF Leak (cerebral spinal fluid leak). Head pain/pressure, dizziness/vertigo similar to Menieres.  Some other CSF leak symptoms include stiff neck/shoulders and pulling pain, and vision issues. Many people who suffer CSF leaks also have been diagnosed with EDS, with a common finding of "thin or paper thin dura".
