fluid leaking from my nowe

I had extensive sinus surgery 3 months ago. Since the surgery, I've had a clear fluid dripping from my right nostril, whenever I bend over for a time. My family practice doctor was concerned that it's a CSF leak and sent me to have a CAT scan immediately. That came out fine. ENT who did the surgery took a sample of the fluid and sent it off to the lab. The lab failed to process the sample, lost it for a time and finally did process it and it came out negative. Meanwhile, I've been having headaches, fever, neck pain and seem to sleep all the time, which is very very unusual for me. Yes, my nose is still dripping this watery stuff. Any thoughts?

Hi there - sorry to hear about your nasal problems - that must be horrible.  I'm not posting about that, but noticed that you sent someone a message re: strange postpartum symptoms and that you had had some.  I do too and would love to hear how you are doing now in relation to those!  Thanks very much, Natalie

Hi.

It is a good to know that they have probably ruled out a CSF leak since this is the most serious thing to consider and can be life threatening.  The continuous fluid discharge may be due to blockage or injury to the lymphatic channels that are draining the fluid from the head and neck area.  Injury to the lymphatic channels would eventually heal but the time interval varies from one person to another (and in your situation this may really take a while).

Medications that would help diminish lymph production would include decongestants and vasoconstrictor sprays but this should be used judiciously and should be discussed first with your doctor.

I believe that eventual recovery is at hand.  Regards and God bless.
