treatment cure

Have a-typical trigeminal facial pain after taking fosamax. Surgeon said Fosamax caused this condition and pain.(fossy jaw) I also had to have a bone implant in my jaw.How do I get rid of this constant painful condition? I Hate taking pain meds, but I'm grateful I get some relief. Pain in jaw, ear, eye, forehead, neck, nose all the whole left side of my face and head.
Throat and chest pressure /constriction dizziness are now another pressing concern.

I don't think my family understands how much this changes me, and the quality of my life, feeling devastated.
be well artgoddess.

Hi there - I have atypical TN and it is a nightmare.  I take 2,000 mg of Keppra everyday to help stave off the pain.  Some days are better than others.  I am lucky my family and friends do seem to understand.  Course they have seen my with tears running down my face, etc.  There is not much you can do about the pain except take medications.  I go to an acupunturist also.  That helps a little.  Also smoking weed helps too!  I hate having it and I am sorry you have it too.  I am trying to learn to live with it.  That is basically what my neurologist said.  There is no cure so you learn to live with it.  I will check back with you.  Sherry

What did your prescribing doctor say about the side effects caused by the Fosamax and how to deal with it?

I understand your feelings about how the facial pain affects your quality of life.  Because it's something people can't see -- it's sometimes hard for our families/friends to understand.  It took me a long while to get my husband to understand what I was dealing with, with symptomatic TN.  Sometimes it helps to find an news article or health article that describes the problem and share it with family/friends.

I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you, but if you type "Fosamax side effects" in the SEARCH box at the top of the page -- you'll see postings from other people that are also dealing with similar problems.  Hopefully someone else in the community will be able to give you more specific answers.

Wishing you the best!
Nancy
