Trying to figure this out?

Hey all I guess the more I am on here the more I am learning.......even after having a child I have learned so much the beautiful cervix project is quite educational wow!!!!!!  ok so my question ......... I have a 9month old daughter I am still BF have introduced solids at 6months but she is still bf on demand.  I would lke to ttc another child so they can be around 2yrs apart. We just ahd a dr apt with our daughter and i was concidering weaning her to try and get AF back.  well my dr and my boyfriend both convinced me to keep bf as long as possible... I am having issues wit her biting me and so forth but my boyfriend says "we let everything happen naturally lets not mess with it" what he doesn't understand is i'ts my body and I AM the one who bf and I would like to give my daughter a sibbling somewhat close in age.  How can I tell if I am ovulating?  i have the "hormonal" changes each month and sometimes i feel kinda crampy but no AF AND my cm seems to be changing alot as well.....but no af?  could I be ovulating w/out a period? I know that i could just stop bf and try and get back on track but my daughter is so close to being a yr old and then she can have cows milk i don't want to put her on formula for 3months also i know there are drugs you can take to help you get af back while you bf but again my other half doesn't agree with that.  I am in desperate need of advice..... i really would like to try and get preg. again SOOOOOON we are planning on this being our last child.... (for now ;) ) so i would like to get my body back in the near future i just don't think some men realize what we go through ....

it can be brutal i tell ya ;) i've gotten an infection on one side because of her biting me..... nursing is not a problem tho I love it and will continue as long as I can- the only reason i am REALLY considering quitting is to try and get preg. again, but i don't want to cut my daughter short of this experiance.  I guess I will have to just let it play out and see what happens whta is mean to be will be.  BF is DEFINANTLY a commitment and my goal was 6months we made it and now my goal is 1yr and we are almost there just wanting to keep my children close in age was my big concern my brother and i were only 13months apart and I loved growing up that way.  My other half and his sister are 2 yrs apart and if i were to get preg now my babes would be 1.5yrs apart.  I guess i've always just let things be and if it happens it happens.  just sooo anxious to have #2 but i won't sacrafice my daughters time with me bf to get that.  I know i will miss bf when it's over.  SOme days are just easier than others and some days she's nicer than others ya know what i mean! hehe anyway thank you so much for you advice both of you i appreciate it so much :) i love this site it's so great to have other mothers advice or hear other experiances!!!!

Have you considered pumping to get a stored milk supply? Or just pumping and giving it to her so she doesn't bite? I did that because when my DD got her 1st tooth at 7 months, she drew blood! I don't think it will change help with the ovulation part, but if it were just the nursing part, it helped me alot. I got AF back before I stopped nursing though. But Heather is right, it is your body.

You sound like you want to stop breastfeeding and if that's the case then do it! It's your body and if that's what you'll feel comfortable doing than I would say go for it. If I had one and I was having issues with biting then it's definitely time to finish up. Of course it's always better for them to keep going as long as possible but it also has to do with what's realistic and comfortable for you too.
As far as the whole whether you're ovulating I'm not sure.
