can you get pregnant if you have irregular period?

my husband & i have been ttc since october (when i got off the pill). for the past 3 months i've been having really irregular periods, but nevertheless they were periods. i just wasn't sure if you could get pregnant from having irregular periods or not??? i went to my doctor about it, but she really wasn't much help since she didn't know what is causing the irregular periods. i had blood work done & am scheduled for an ultrasound sept. 29th.. but it's such a long time to wait to know what's going on!

After our losses our OB prescribed us 50mg Clomid which helps regulate your cycle and also releases the healthiest egg/eggs every month. We were also given Progesterone to start at CD20 in case we did conceive. It seemed to work for us because we are now 18 weeks along with twins. Good luck and sending lots of baby dust your way.

it's probably nothing to worry about and just a case of your hormones evening out again on their own -- it can take time. however, if it continues long enough that you are uncomfortable with it you can go to your doctor and ask for a hormone profile. sometimes it's as simple as stress that can throw our system off.

Des_a_rae's recommendation that you use an ovulation predictor kit is good: it will tell you whether you are still ovulating.

good luck!

Hi there, IF you're having a monthly period you can get pregnant. As long as there's nothing wrong. Cysts, fibroids, endo, polyps things like that. The only thing is if you do have a period and they're irregular it might make it harder. Have you tried using the OPK's?   Ovulation Predictor Kits?  Since you're periods are irregular it would be hard to know when you're ovulating and those will tell you when. :)  Before the birth control were you having irregular periods? I know sometimes it takes awhile for your body to get back to it's normal self after coming off of birth control. Good luck with everything!! :)
