Black Circles

I've had black circles/bags around my eyes since i was about 15, i'm now coming up 22 and have tried everything. As far as i know nobody in my family has had this problem, what can i do to try and sort them out?

Also, could a Doctor prescribe anything?

Hi

Thanks for the post.

This is a very common concern. Mostly it is due to iron deficiency and anemia. So please get a complete anemia panel done. Lack of sleep, anxiety, stress and poor diet are all causes that should be looked into. They are also hereditary. People having chronic sinusitis or other chronic problems like asthma etc too have dark circles.

A diet rich in fruits and vegetables, iron supplements, deep breathing exercises and drinking plenty of water helps remove dark circles. Rubbing almond oil at bed time and juice of cucumber or tomato during the day too helps. Sleep at least 8 hours everyday. Exercise in fresh air.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Hello,

Dark circles under the eyes are temporary and caused due to insomnia, smoking, a family history of dark circles, deficiency of vit K in diet, allergies like sinusitis and eczema, pregnancy and menstruation, increasing age, medication that dilate the blood vessels  and adrenal gland disorders.

Take rest adequatey and eat healthy nutritious food containing lots of green vegetables. Try to avoid caffeine, because it promotes water retention and leads to the dryness of the eye.Apply almond oil or skin creams containing vit C or K,alpha hydroxyl acids and kinetin. Also take multivitamins and iron supplements for some days and see if the symptoms improve.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional queries.
