Can Anybody Help My Daughter? PLEASE?

My poor 17 year old daughter has had four weeks from hell.  She has symptoms of nausea (almost constantly) severe stomache distension, loud gurgling noises in her throat and violent hiccups.  She has lost almost a stone in weight over these past four weeks and is tired and frustrated as we still have no answers.  On 24th Feb she felt unwell and went for a routine GP appt.  He sent her for a chest X-ray and abdomen X-ray.  The results showed a massively distended stomache.  She was admitted under the Surgical team and had a Rhiles tube inserted (probably spelt wrong - but the tube up her nose, down her throat and into her stomach).  This was supposed to release any trapped air or empty the contents of her stomach.  Nothing happened and it was removed.  She had an ultrasound scan which showed only a moderately enlarged spleen and slightly enlarged liver.  An OGD (tube in throat and down into her stomache) showed nothing.  She was then sent for a barium swallow test which showed the liquid reaching her small bowel in the required time.  A sigmoidoscopy was reported as normal, follwed by a colonoscopy which revealed no twist, narrowing or blockage.  She still has these awful symptoms and we are both so distressed by them!  She particularly bloats/swells up after eating and the noises are stopping her from socialising with her friends.  She had the colonoscopy on Monday 28th and the consultant said to see him at the end of the month.  It is too long to wait!  Can anybody please, please help.  She now weighs 7 stone 2 and we are both beside oursleves with worry......

The reason i brought up the water is possible Led poisoning:

Very high levels may cause vomiting, stumbling, muscle weakness, seizures or coma.  Abdominal pain (stomach ache) and cramping is usually the first sign of a high, toxic dose of lead poison.

At lower levels, subtle changes can happen in brain function.  The child may appear healthy and normal, or may have symptoms like:

acting irritable or grouchy
behavior problems (like acting hyper or aggressive)
learning problems
tiredness or weakness
low appetite and energy
headaches
weight loss
sleep problems
constipation
Please let us know how everything turns out and i will be praying for you and your daughter.

If it is IBS irritable bowel syndrome then you have to think of what has caused it. Personally, i just don't believe that one day your body says, hey i'm not gonna work right! trying to figure out what triggered it is the difficult part. the very first thing you should look at is food alergies or intolerence. you could also look into other alergies and intolerences. I don't know where you live but you might also think about the water that she is drinking, maybe at school, maybe at the house and etc. here is a list of possibilities that you can discuss with your doctor:distended stomach can also be a symptom of certain major health conditions, especially if the such distention lasts for a considerable length of time. The diseases or health conditions can be associated with distended stomach are
Irritable bowel syndrome
Intolerance to certain foods
Food allergies
Bowel obstruction
Constipation
Intestinal parasites
Diverticulitis
Amebiasis
Celiac disease
Colitis
Crohn's disease
Ovarian cyst
Polycystic ovarian syndrome
Ovarian cancer
Tumor in the abdomen
Uterine fibroids
Peritonitis
Ascites or accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity

I googled this for you even though your daughters symptom  are more severe than just a belching problem. it sounds like a reasonable natural remedy that may help her condition. Only trying to help
1
Fill a glass with 8 oz. of cold water and add two drops of pure mint essence. Stir this mixture for several seconds, until the mint essence has been completely mixed with the water. Drink the mixture daily for 2 weeks to reduce belching, and to also help your digestive system.

2
Mix 1 tsp. of lime juice and 1 tsp. of cider vinegar with 8 oz. of cold water. Drink this mixture before each meal to help reduce any type of digestion issue that can cause belching.

3
Brew one cup of ginger tea every morning and night to reduce belching throughout the entire day. Ginger tea has several qualities that are known to ease the digestive system and help keep belching at bay.

4
Chew one fresh clove leaf after every meal to keep from belching. Fresh clove leaves soothe the digestive system and keep any gas issues from arising.

5
Swallow one whole garlic bud on an empty stomach with 8 oz. of water on a daily basis to prevent any type of gas buildup. This is an effective natural remedy to improve the digestive system, which will also eliminate excessive belching.

6
Add 2 tsp. of baking soda to a full 8-oz. glass of water and stir until the baking soda is completely dissolved. This mixture is a great way to instantly eliminate belching.

Tips & Warnings
Chewing gum can cause you to swallow air. If you are afraid of belching during an important interview or date, refrain from chewing gum. Slow down your eating, as consuming food at a fast rate can cause air to fill your stomach, which will then cause you to belch.

If you have a sharp pain in your stomach and it does not go away for several hours, consult your doctor immediately.
