Chest pain

Im not very physically fit; however, I do dance on occasion. I discovered last year that during my hip-hop number, which required a lot of fast twisting and sharp movements, my chest began to hurt. It felt like a throbbing in my heart. Usually I press my hands against my chest very hard and I can feel my heart beating rapidly. This is probably just because I have been dancing, and I am almost positive this is not a heart condition. The odd thing about this, is that the pain stems from the twisting of my torso. When I do that, I feel a sharp pain coming from my left chest area. Nobody seems to recognize what this may be. Has anyone experienced something similar? Any ideas?

Hi,

Has a chest xray been done to rule out any rib fracture, chest infection, or air in the pleural space?

There could be several causes of the symptoms you are having including a muscle pull, injury or trauma at the site, chest infection, etc.

Do you have any associated symptoms?

You should apply some local pain relief medications, take some oral pain relief medications, maintain a proper posture throughout the day, try some warm compresses.

You could take some antireflux antinausea medications and see if they help with your symptoms - this could be pain due to reflux or GERD.

Consult the doctor if the symptoms persist and discuss whether you need to get any investigations including a chest xray and ECG done.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you need any other information.

Regards.

You have to do an EKG in moving conditions in order to exclude any possible ischemia or other hear tcondition if your EKG comes normal than most probabely your pain is chestwall related (nevralgia, etc)
