Chest tightness, wheezing, sore throat for nearly a week?

Last week my chest started feeling tight (possibly after exposure to pesticides used to expel cockroaches in my halls of residence). The only other symptoms I’ve had are a sore throat, wheezing when I cough (even though I haven’t felt the need to cough really), and back pain.
I went to the doctor yesterday and was told I have a virus, which is exacerbated by allergens in the air, and prescribed an antihistamine and some solution for gargling.
I’ve read about acute bronchitis sometimes being caused by irritants - is it possible the virus the doctor mentioned is bronchitis?

When he said bronchitis r/t inhalants - it just means that it is irritated or inflamed. There are different things that can cause bronchitis but no -  When it comes to respiratory illness- Youll hear viral and bacterial thrown around- Viral (flu, cold) vs Bacterial. They can present differently. The major difference is that an antibiotic will only cure a bacterial infections. Antibiotics are not prescribed for viral infections.  Most likely you will receive an albuterol inhaler for wheezing and be told to rest :) If symptoms persist I would revisit your physician.
