For as long as I can remember I have been getting these "growing pains" as I call them but I stopped growing in 2011 and I still get these pains. They can happen up to twice daily or I can go up to 2 weeks without getting one. I get them mostly in my knees but sometimes they appear in my shoulders and elbows and rarely my ankles. It starts as a dull ache but gradually gets worse as time goes on and if I don't take something for the pain it starts to radiate to the rest of my legs or arms as if I bumped a nerve and becomes so painful there is nothing I can do but cry. If I don't take something they can last all day if not extend to the next. The only thing that works to get rid of the pain is two extra strength ibuprofen tablets but pressure and warmth helps to alleviate some of the pain or hasten the effect of the ibuprofen. They are sometimes triggered by something and sometimes not. If I've done a lot of activity or have been standing all day I can tell that I will get one but I can also develop them on days when I only get a moderate amount of activity or no activity at all. Movement somewhat helps strangely but I attribute that to the pressure on the knees from walking. I have gone to several doctors with this and have gotten a variety of answers none of which seem to fit properly. I have been tested for inflammatory markers but it came up negative and I have a requisition for a blood test to see if its RA but I don't think that's it given that I don't have pain in my small joints. I have also recently been diagnosed with fibromialgia but this only developed within the last 7 months of making this post. If anyone has any ideas or similar experiences please do not hesitate to respond.
