Chronic low grade fever -- no definitive lab results

I've had a chronic, low-grade fever (98.9 - 100) since early January.  My normal temp is 98.6.  The last time I had a chronic low grade fever was about 15 years ago when I had CFS following mono.  

I have fatigue, but it is nothing like when I had CFS.  However I think the fatigue is beginning to take a toll.

I have regular bouts of insomnia (have for years) -- probably the cause of the fatigue!

I have a dizzy spell about once every few weeks.

CBC is normal other than lymphocytes being slightly low.

I am currently living in Southern Africa.

Negative for:  malaria, TB, parasites, amoebas, any tick-related illness, hypothyroidism (TSH is 1.02), urinalysis is normal, liver function is normal.

I take BCP and Zyrtec regularly.

I have PCOS.

I have not had labwork done for ANAs.

I do not have any chronic pain.

My NP said my thyroid seems to be ever-so-slightly enlarged on one side.

My NP wants me to check my temp 3 times a day for a few weeks to confirm the fever (I think she wants to make sure it's not in my head -- but I've had the fever at the NP office as well as at home!).

We are considering TTC #3, and are concerned there could be a medical issue that should be resolved before trying to get pregnant.

Are there any tests that are recommended?  Should I just be content to let the fever go longer and assume it is some sort of virus?  I do not have a regular physician (but will when I move to the States in mid-July), and the local physicians here are generally not too concerned about someone with my symptoms (they are rightly overwhelmed with AIDS, TB, cholera, etc.).

I too have had a chronic low grade fever for several months ranging from 99.0-100.5, usually in the morning and goes away by afternoon for about 7 months now. I have other symptoms such as fatigue, swollen lymph nodes in my neck, neck pain, loss of appetite, stomach pain. But the most bothersome is the fever because I just feel awful with a fever.

All my blood work has come back normal too. I've had test after test after test done and they can find nothing. If your doctor does come up with something, please let me know. I'm pretty desperate to get a diagnosis. I hope yours isn't like mine and will pass soon.

From what I see online, though it is uncommon, it is possible to get a recurrance of mono.  Also, have you ever been tested for CMV or cytomegalovirus?  It is pretty common and can cause low grade fevers.  Did you get your free T 3 and free T 4 tested or just TSH?

Just the TSH.  They can't do the T3 and T4 here.  I have not been tested for the others -- had not come across those yet in my research.  I will add to my list for when I get back to the States.
