Usually feeling of not getting enough air in your lungs and needing to take deep breathes to feel somewhat satisfied, this is usually related to anxiety and or panic disorder. It is possible to have mini panic attacks were you aren't even aware of it and you get this feeling. Anxiety is usually the number one, you may not know you have anxiety...it is a very common trait, sometimes feeling the need to contract your abdominal muscles in the sense of a twitch or a grunt can follow..
Hi! Well, it can be an anxiety and panic attack. Shortness of breath or inability to take a breath is medically called dyspnea. The problem can be either in heart or lung or due to anemia. Over exercising can also be a cause for breathlessness. At times due to too empty stomach or drinking lots of water before exercising can also cause breathlessness. Angina, heart attack and pulmonary embolism should be ruled out first. If there is wheezing, asthma is likely. If there is cough, chronic obstructive disease or asbestos, silica etc pollution as the cause is likely. Other causes are mitral valve problems, pulmonary hypertension, anemia, hyperventilation syndrome or psychological factors. A detailed and comprehensive investigation will be required including EKG, Chest X-ray, blood test for anemia, maybe CT scan of chest, BP recording etc. Please consult your PCP to start with. Hope this helps. Take care!
Have you seen the doctor? I hate to suggest anxiety, but that is a common symptom of anxiety. Still, you may want to check it out with the doctor.
