Extreme Hand Pain

I sleep soundly all night, but I awaken with extreme pain in my right hand, especially.  It lasts for a few minutes, I rise with some lesser pain, which works out as I prepare breakfast, etc.  Some days I have very little discomfort in my hands; other days, it's more.  No numbness.  Can this be carpel tunnel, or what?

Carpal tunnel would have been my first guess also. But with that there is usually some parenthesis (pins and needles) along the distribution of your medial nerve.

U need to notice if u sleep wrong hand position or ur hand under ur head or other place..But if u think that is not the case and it is happening on daily basis then u need to go see a doctor because there could be others reasons as well.Giving too much strain on right hand while working or workin out can also be the factors as it can give u effect in the morning when u wake up..
so if this is consistant and these are not the factors then go see a doctor..cauz there could be an injury which cud hav happened in the past and effects are coming later.
