Extreme Panic After Eating Carbohyrdates - Adrenaline Hormone Rush in 20 - 30 Minutes

I have extreme panic and adrenaline after eating carbohydrates.

Blood sugar is always normal, but feels like my body is counterregulating the sugar.

I used to be able to eat complex carbohydrates and last 4 hours between meals.

Now I have attacks in 20-30 minutes after eating even an egg or slice of american cheese. That's how sensitive my body has become over past seven years.

Any help would be appreciated. Ran a whole slew of tests regarding thyroid, sugar, 12 hour fasting insulin, pro insulin, igf1, igf2, etc.

I only eat meat now for the past two years and it feels like that too may be starting to give - although I'm holding at 4 hours.

I just want to be able to have an ice cream cone with my 4 year old son.

Thank you.

I have not had surgery, there is no pain or discomfort when eating, we've tested for celiac, the problem is not with milk or food allergies.

My blood sugar is always NORMAL.

12 hour fasting Insulin level is 2 (therefore very supressed) and this is while I have symptoms - I need to eat within 12 hours to feel better and prevent anxiety.

The only thing that I've heard of is an insulin tumor that only reacts to food.

Just did a 24 urine for cortisol and it was high - probably due to stress and fatigue - although it may be the counterregulatory mechanisms at work keeping it high.

Following up with endo this week for some more bloodwork - any additional thoughts before my visit would be appreciated - since no one knows why this problem is happening with carbohydrates within 20-30 minutes.

Thanks again.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
By any chance did you get a gastric bypass—if yes, then this could be due to Dumping’s syndrome. Other than this carbohydrate intolerance and insulin secreting tumors of the pancreas could be a problem. Secondary lactase enzyme deficiency due to celiac sprue, tropical sprue or other intestinal infections too could be a cause.
Since I cannot examine you and know other related conditions you may be having, nor is a detailed history possible on net, I have listed the various possibilities that should be looked into. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral.
Take care!
