Hard painful lump behind ear growing off the cartilage

Hello, my name is Bec, i'm 16 years old and a week + ago i found a lump behind my left ear on the cartilage, at first it was tiny like a pimple now it is about 1cm and growing slowly but is very painful. it has been causing me many throbbing migraines the past few days, i cannot sleep on my left side at all without discomfort and pain. it is painful to touch and if touched too hard brings me to tears. i have been feeling exhausted also, my family have a strong history of cancers and non-hodgkins lymphoma. i went to the doctor and they wanted to ultra sound it but they said it would be too small to pick up, they have already confirmed it is nothing to do with the lymph nodes. please help i'm terrified?!?!?!

Sounds like you have Chondrodermatitis Nodularis.
I will be able to confirm and help you more if you can tell me if these truly apply to what you have:
- The nodule(bump) is firm, tender and well demarcated.
- Size range is 3-20 mm in diameter - usually about 6 mm in diameter.
- It is round or oval, slightly raised and firmly stuck to the underlying cartilage.
- It may appear inflamed.
- The surface appears scaly or crusty. If the crust is removed, a small raw area or core may be visible centrally.
