Swollen on left side of neck

So I have been sick for a while now. I had some sort of viral cold that started probably 2-3 weeks ago, and it took a long time for me to recover. Symptoms were nasal congestion, sneezing, low grade fever, loss of appetite, coughing. I felt better at the beginning of last week, and felt ok throughout the week, went back to working out normally everyday as usual. However, I woke up yesterday morning feeling a swollen gland on the left side of my throat (oddly only the left side). No other symptoms were present. It never went away during the day yesterday and I even tried taking a motrin to help with little success, and today when I woke up it is still there, a little more tender and now when I turn my head certain ways to the left my neck hurts a little. My head feels a little warm but when I took my temp it read normal. I have already had mono so I don't think it is that. Maybe it is just symptoms following my viral cold? Please help me, I need suggestions/clues!!

My daughter actually had this happen to her...it turned out to be just a swollen gland..however the doctor did mention that if the swelling and pain did not go away they may have to put her on a strong antibiotic...

Hi how big is the swelling?

If it's quite large it may be a good idea to check it out...might be nothing and just to do with your cold but i'd get it checked out to be sure its nothing serious.
