How can I prevent and managing protruding veins?

My wife has a protruding vein on 1 leg which her doctor has informed her that it is not a medical problem. She has recently noticed more veins that protrude periodically. This is causing her distress so I'm looking for some things that we can do to help prevent more protruding veins and perhaps reduce the one that's protruding already.

Hello and welcome to the forum.  Thank you for the question.  We're sorry your wife has this concern.  This might be varicose veins which is a fairly common condition and usually simply cosmetic rather than of a health concern.  Not always though, but often. Here's some information on it.  https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/varicose-veins/symptoms-causes/syc-20350643  An important question is if your wife has any pain or discomfort?  Things that can help are making sure you are the proper weight, getting exercise, elevating the legs, wearing compression socks, even things like changing sitting positions frequently can help.  Doctors can also do therapies for varicose veins that include things like laser therapy, schlerotherapy, vein stripping, etc.  I'd continue to work on her doctor following the prevention strategies they give her.

There are some natural remedies that ostensibly help with things like hemorrhoids and varicose veins.  Might or might not help.  The two most common in these formulas are horse chestnut and witch hazel, but others such as gota kola and gingko might help.  They work on the integrity of the blood vessels.  There are topical and internal treatments.  No idea if it would help, but it is something out there.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful answers. I have shared with her the horse chestnut, witch hazel, gota kola, and gingko . My wife and I exercise every morning (6000 - 7000 steps) and we get our 10,000 steps per day. We will continue to work with her doctor to try and find the best practice steps that we can do for now.
