Is my excruciating knee pain normal for an infected abrasion?

Hi, I fell while running the other day and then continued to run 3 more miles because I didn’t realize I was injured. When I got home I realized that I had scraped my right knee and it was swelling, bleeding and bruising. (Not surprising) the next day I was headed to school and I hadn’t done much but put on neosporin. While driving my knee hurt badly enough that it was all I could focus on. Sharp pain. When I got to school I tried to get out of the car and had extreme sharp shooting pain in my knee. I thought it was broken so I went and had it x-rayed. They said it was fine but the scrape is infected. I waited 1 day to see if it would heal on its own and then went and filled the keflex that the dr prescribed and have had a days worth of doses and just woke up this morning. Still when I stand up this sharp terrible pain hits my skin and maybe a little deeper under my skin. What the heck is wrong with me? The infection on my knee has gotten a tiny bit smaller, but the pain if anything just keeps getting worse. I would rate the pain a 8/10 when it is present but if I am still and not moving it is like a 1/10

That's a high pain number. The doctor who prescribed the Keflex, did they examine you?

Could be something that will often heal nicely on its own like strained ligaments etc. but you need a doc to examine it because it might need some attention.
