Lumps and Swollen Throat

I am 17 years old and i have a nickel sized bump behind mt left ear. Its been there for over two years that i can remember. Its hard and when i mess with it it hurts. Its under my skin and it can move around a little. I have never got it checked out because my mom hasn't seemed worried about it. Then about 2 days ago i felt something of the same sort just a tad smaller in my neck on the same side (left side). i thought nothing of it thinking it is a swollen lymph node. Even tho i dont have a sore throat and im not sick. Then yesterday morning i woke up and the bottom half of my throat is swollen. Its really noticable to me when i look in the mirror but no one else can really tell unless i point it out. Its not hard for me to breath.and i woke up this morning and its still swollen and he lump is still there. im starting to get concerned. but my mom says just wait it out cause its too soon to go to the doctor.

i saw my doctor a couple days after my post. she thought it was a cyst on my thyroid and had me go to the hosp. and get xrays. and she took blood work and everything. she called me later that same day and said that everything was fine. Then earlier this week she called my mom back and is haveing me go back in tomrrow to see a different doctor that isnt a pediatrician... she never said exactly why which kinda worries me i guess... i thought everything was fine. so as of now im still undiagnosed. ill let you know if i find out anything else or different tomorrow.

Lymph nodes are like the porous paper filters in a "Mister Coffee" machine. The collect and trap infectious material and bad buggy-wuggies before they go on vacation in exotic and interesting parts of the body.  The chances are you have a little infection, probably bacterial, and need some antibiotics.

You need to go to a doctor. Don't pass go. Don't collect two hundred dollars.

Hello,

This sounds like a swollen lymph node. The earlier was a post auricular lymph node and now it is the cervical lymph node.I would advise an ultrasound and FNAC/biopsy to find out the cause of enlargement as to whether it is infection, autoimmune disease, chronic disease or any malignancy.Pls coax your mother to take you to the doctor soon as the post auricular lymph node has been chronically enlarged for some time.
Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
