MYSTEROUS DEBILITATING AND EVOLVING CONDITION

About 6 months ago, I developed sharp, burning pain encompassing entire left arm that lasted 24/7 for about 3 weeks. As the pain started to subside some, my lower left leg began to swell and spread downward to ankle and foot. This was accompanied by severe shooting and stabbing pains, discoloration ranging from dark red to deep purple and caused difficulty in walking or moving leg. Swelling and pain are constant and nothing works to aleviate it (elevation, compression, lasix, etc.) After about 2 months, the right leg began to swell, also. Misdiagnosis of congestive heart failure, kidney failure, blood clot. Several blood and urine tests reveal no cause (CBC, HepC, complete thyroid panel, glucose, hormone, etc.). EKGS, xrays, ultrasound, CT scan reveal nothing. My left leg measures between 7 and 8 inches enlarged, right is between 5 and 6 inches, and an overall weight gain of about 20 pounds in the legs. Although it varies in size and shape, the swelling does not go away. It is not water retention. Lasix was started at 1 pill and now up to 4 pills with no effect. Vicodin does little to ease the pain. Now also have severe pain in bone near right elbow, unable to lift or move anything with arm. Two days ago, right leg hemorrhaged from out of nowhere and without cause. Literally looked like the blood was coming from a pore or something and completely saturated the bottom half of jeans in about 3 seconds. Symptoms are severe and effect sleep, ability to walk, stand, sit, drive, etc. My doctor has pretty much given up.

Doppler  sonogram already ruled out deep vein thrombosis as it showed normal blood flow and compression. White blood cell and platelet counts are normal as well as clotting times. Any other ideas?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Blood clotting disorders, platelet count, deep vein thrombosis, and inflammation of veins and lymphatics should be looked into. Please consult a vascular specialist. Take care!
