Muscle Pain & Weakness elevated CK but all tests are normal...

So I'm asking this question in regards to my husbands symptoms...
3 months ago he started having some kidney pain and went to his general doctor and they checked his kidneys and all function was normal. About a month later he developed some muscle fatigue with mild pain that accompanied the kidney pain. He went to an internist and they did blood work and an ultrasound on his kidneys. The ultrasound came back negative, as in normal and all his blood work was normal except for an elevated CK of about 750 (normal is under 200). So the Internet suggested we wait a week and do another CK test and see if it was still elevated. As we waited my husband kept complaining that his muscles were still weak and he felt as if they were getting weaker. His muscle weakness was localized to mainly his thighs, both inner and outer. We went back to the doctor and they ran another CK test and it came back lower but slightly elevated at 350. So the doctor thought it was likely just some muscle damage that was in the works of repairing itself, so we decided to give it some time. Only a couple weeks later my husband muscle weakness for worse and he developed other symptoms his muscle weakness spread to his arms, both biceps and forearms, he had some abdominal pain and some groin pain and overall feeling of fatigue. One day he felt extreme faint and we took him to the hospital. They did a work up that showed no abnormalities including and EKG and sent us home.   So we headed back to the internal doctor. We had them check for lymes, lupus, rheumatic markers, infectious diseases, and all test again came back negative. Except for he had an elevated CK again of about 500. The internal doctor though it would be a great time see a neurologist so as we were waiting to see him we did a CT, EMG and MRI that also showed up normal. When we saw the neurologist he was certain it was ploymositis so gave him a 3 week dose of prednisone. The first week of prednisone seemed to help his energy level but by the time he had his follow up appointment his energy was great but his symptoms were still there. He also has developed severe anxiety since he feels like crap and can't find out what is going on. The neurologist is stumped and so is the internal Doctor as well as his general Doctor of what it could be. They are trying to get us into a neuromuscular Doctor but as we have been waiting he has developed weakness and pain (burning and stinging) in this chest muscles and under his arms that go along with the muscle fatigue and pain all over his body. Any ideas what it could be? Literally everything we have checked for has been negative we are at a loss but he still feels so ******. So any ideas would be appreciated.

Hello~I am sorry your husband is experiencing all this pain and no one seems to know why. Has anyone done any bone marrow biopsies? I don't want to be an alarmist, and I certainly am not a doctor, but his symptoms almost sound like a Myeloproliferative disorder. Some can be serious while others can be benign but need attention. To my knowledge, the only way to find out is via the biopsy.  Does he experience any itching? Does he have any purplish spots on his skin? Has he lost any weight? I am a little concerned over the elevated CK levels, which is why I ask about being tested for the Myeloproliferative disorder. The next time you see your doctor, ask him about it. I hope he finds relief soon.
