On going illnesses...

Hi...
I have been on and off ill since the begining of the year. I must point out I have suffered from chronic insomnia for the last 8 months sleeping 2-3 hours if I am lucky per night but this has got a bit better in the last 2 months or so.
Anyway... so far this year I have had Sciatica, cystitis, Central Serous Retinopathy, my periods have shortened, lack of concentration most of which I put down to lack of sleep, I still do not know what causes my insomnia.
I woke up 3 days ago with severe abdominal pain.. on standing and walking it subsided, after eating breakfast I suddenly had stabbing pains in my lower abdomen and then diarrhea followed... for the whole day I was nauseous and couldn't eat. I also feel a tight sensation in my throat and chest like I am going to suffocate and my left arm feels numb. I have no appetite and anything I do eat doesn't stay in long, I also pain in my hip joints, I am cold to touch but sweaty and have a feeling like I am not in my body..?! I've tried some over the counter diarrhea tablets and paracetamol but nothing is working.
I feel like hypochondriac going to my doctor yet again but I am so sick of being sick... does anyone have an idea what may be causing any of these symptoms as I have this nagging underlying feeling that there is just something not right but my doctor is missing something..?
Thank you for any help

Thanks for your reply.... apparently it's all due to stress!? This seems kinda interesting seeing as there is not much to stress me out, in fact I always thought a little stress is healthy just like a little cry, a little laughter! I have always been "high strung" but I wouldn't  say stressed... is that the same thing?

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
You should get sleep studies done. Either you have some sleep problem or your insomnia is the result of some underlying disease like hyperthyroidism, urinary incontinence or frequency, asthma like conditions etc. Hyperthyroidism and sleep disturbances should definitely be looked into. Also stress, anxiety and strain can cause these problems. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
