Period is late and I have vaginal itching and burning during and after sex

I'm 16 days late and i had period pain the day before and today when i went to the bathroom i discovered a small amount of light blood and i had that period pain again but just a little pain only and i thought finally my period started but nope no blood is coming out since then,i have to mention that i have been very late before and i'm very irregular and i'm 22 so i don't know if that's normal.I have done pregnancy tests and they came back negative.I also had a little vaginal itching this week and the week before and my vagina burns during and after sex, when i looked it today i saw that the skin around my vagina was kinda red,i went to the doctor last time that my vagina was in a very bad condition comparing to this now, when i was convinced that i had an infection and the results were just fine and they didn't found any infections,i think maybe a reason why my vagina burned so much during sex was because it itched me a bit and i scratched it but just a little and maybe i irritated that place i don't know just guessing here.I also don't know if this has to do with my period being late even though i don't think it has.I'm worried what should i do?

Of course I read your first message and thanks. We don't use condoms so there's no a latex problem but i know he does use soap so it's good that you gave me that information,i will talk to him about what you said for soaps and yogurt. And I do had an urge to pee frequently like a month ago and i had a discomfort while urinating and a little pain in my vagina but all that disappeared and that discomfort and pain i had was just for one day and not even a one full day so i didn't paid attention and i thought that maybe it was that honeymoon syndrome cause i read that only lasts 2 or 3 days and goes away by its own and it did go away but that's when the itching started and now looks like the itching is going away too.Again thanks for all your help and your wishes.

Read through my first posted message which tells you how to help yourself to avoid getting fungal infections.  Sometimes even with doing all you can, you still may get a fungal infection unfortunately.

If you do use condoms, use the latex free ones, as you may have an allergy to the latex.  Also make sure that you use a good sexual lubricant (KY gel is a water based lubricant and should be fine).

Tell your boyfriend not to use soap and showergel on his penis.  This can dry his skin and in time can also cause him to have problems.  Non perfumed soap and those that have a pH level like our skin is fine for men and women.  Should he get any irritation and itching, natural live (set) yogurt applied to his cleaned and gently dried bits will help, this is also helpful for men and women.

Sometimes the irritation may be caused by an infection in the bladder when bacteria enter it through the urethra, women have a much shorter urethra than men.  Having rampant sex can cause this.  This is sometimes referred to as "Honeymoon Syndrome".  If you do get a burning pain when urinating or a feeling of being uncomfortable in the lower belly, taking a urine sample to the doctor for testing would confirm whether you have a bladder infection - this is called Cystitis.  It is important to drink plenty of water should you get this and the doctor would prescribe an antibiotic for you.

Hope you do not encounter any more problems.

Have fun,
Best wishes.

You can get fungal infections without being sexually active.
Having a diet that is very sugary or not controlling sugar levels when being glucose intolerant or diabetic can lead to getting skin problems caused by Thrush.

When someone is given antibiotics by a doctor to take for a bacterial infection, this too can change the pH balance, and the antibiotics not only kill off the bad bacteria but also the good bacteria and this too can bring on fungal infections.

For people who are susceptible to getting fungal problems with using antibiotics, the doctor prescribes either antifungal creams or oral medication.  Thrush in the mouth is treated by Nystatin or Daktarin oral gel. Eating or drinking live yogurt also helps to guard against fungal problems.

Althletes foot is a condition caused by fungus.

Well there's no way to be an std cause me and my fiance are each others firsts and he haven't even kissed another girl (i'm pretty sure about that) and i haven't either and we're both very clean so definitely its not an std.But I doubt if it's even a yeast infection cause like i told you i had much more itching before and the left lip of my vagina became really swollen and huge and despite all of that the results didn't show any infections and i haven't had itching for 4 days now so i don't see the point to go to the doctor, maybe it was something temporary. Thanks for your comment

You should make an appointment to see your doctor to take a swab test to check for any fungal infections.

As you are sexually active, it would also be a good idea to check for STDs as mentioned by pregoandtired.

Fungal infections can irritate and cause severe itching and sometimes a white discharge.  You can get fungal infections anywhere on the body and also in the mouth.  If the doctor finds that you have a fungal infection he will prescribe you with either an antifungal cream specifically for the genital area (you can also purchase this from the pharmacy without a prescription) or a one single dose oral capsule called Fluconazole 150mg which can also be purchased from the pharmacy without a prescription.  There are different strengths of Fluconazole and your doctor may prescribe a lower dose to take for a longer period.

As your periods are erratic, this is likely to be a hormone imbalance or you may have a condition called polycystic ovary syndrome.  Your doctor can arrange for a ultrasound scan and take a blood test to find out.

At home do not use soap or shower gels or feminine sprays as these change the pH balance of the skin and can dry and aggravate the condition even more.

Don't wear tight clothing or tights.  Cotton underwear is better than manmade fibre.

After you have had a wash and dried yourself you can also apply  natural live set yogurt, this will help to reduce the irritation and itching.  Do not scratch as much as you feel that you have to.  Scratching will damage the skin which can make things much worse in the long term and lead to scarring and a condition called Planus.  If you start to itch, have a cool shower.

Only use non biological washing detergents to wash your clothes and fabric softeners that are non allergenic.
You may also be allergic to latex condoms.  You can purchase latex free condoms these days.

If after having a swab test, it is confirmed that you do have a fungal problem, your sexual partner may also need to be treated.

more than likely its an std or yeast infection I would go to the doc or er and tell them to check for std the only reason why I say is because of the small amount of blood along with burning durning sex your not suppose to burn while having sex unless you have a rip or tear in vagina
