Placental site trophoblastic tumor

I was having some pain in my left side. So i had tons of ultersounds and nothing was showing. I still continusly has the pain, Missed menstral cycles for a year, unusual discharge etc, etc. Finally my dr. ordered a scope and a biopsy of the uterus. After the surgery i was told that i had a cyst with 345ml of fluid in it, and that they had drained it and the fluid was benign. After a couple of weeks i had went back to the drs. office and was told that he wasn't expecting the outcome that he had. and my biopsy came back showing i had cells of the placental site trophoblastic tumor. So he said "I have never seen this the whole time I'v been a dr. It's so rare." he pretty much told me nothing from there and i ended up going on the net to find out questions and answers of what it was. He order pregnancy blood tests everyday for 2 weeks and and ultersound to see if they could see a mass, and both results were negative! so then he "ASSUMMED" that i did not have the tumer.

My question is. Why did 3 dr's who seen the results of the biopsy tell my dr. that yes those are the trophoblastic cells but yet they and the biopsy is wrong and my dr. is not? They did not see the large cyst with had haystack colored fluid in the ultersound, and so im affraid that they are wrong about this as well. I feel that i schould have had another biopsy to be 100 percent sure and sent to a real specalist that actually had dealt with this tumor in the past or had more information about it then the dr i had!! When i went on the net i also notice i had almost every sign and symptom of the tumor HELP

Google "gestational trophoblastic disease" or "choriocarcinoma" might give you some input/ideas.

When was your last pregnancy?  I'd see a specialist.  Ask for a second opinion.

I am sorry you are going through this. I realize you said you have no specialist of this type in your area, but I would enourage you to find one, contact him/her by phone and see if you can consult, possibly he would be willing to review your test results. I;d consider if at all possible to travel to consult with them. Best of luck to you. Stay positive.
