No solution

Since about last summer I have been having an extremely sharp pain in my chest whenever I do any running. I am in good health and have been fit my whole life. I have seen numerous specialists all who keep sending me elsewhere. I have been tested for athsma which came back negative, for spasms in my bronceal tube which came back negative, I have had an eco done which showed that my heart was perfectly fine, I have had x-rays which have indicated nothing aswell. Also they have tried giving me a puffer that did absolutly nothing and but me on singular which only made me extremely dizzy and full of headachs. I am working to become a police officer and need to maintain a high level of fitness which is being extremely affected by the pain in my chest. The pain is located just on the outside of the sternum directly between two of my ribs on both sides. I'm not exactly sure which number of ribs it is that the pain lies in between but it is above my chest bu slightly bellow my neck.  It is the same spot on both sides and feels like someone is hitting me with a knife. If i stop running it lasts for 20 mins ruffly before it goes away. It is definatly worse in the cold but is pretty painful at any temperature.
PLEASE HELP

thanks for the response. Someone I know had actually suggested maybe looking into that but they had no medical backround so I kind of brushed off the idea.
I will let you know the results when I talk to the doc!

Thanks for all your help

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Check if the pain increases on pressing on those points. Also check if the change of position, laughing etc causes a change in the pain. This is then costochonditis or inflammation of the joint between sternum and ribs. An orthopedic specialist will help you with this. Other causes like asthma, heart problems may have been ruled out in your case.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
