Red patches on the tongue

Hello, I have a reoccurring problem with my tongue, I get a red patch in a certain place on my tongue that is slightly uncomfortable for the first two days but then it's alright. Also, it disappears after few weeks or months and reappears randomly again. I saw a dentist and I have no problems with my teeth. Here is the photo: http://postimg.org/image/o683pa9i3/.

Also I am female 21 years old.

i hope it's not dangerous or contagious.

acid and salt bring it out, I have it also, its actually hereditary so probably your mom or dad  have it, some people are more sensitive than others to it. my my daughters have it also, but if I eat a lot of pineapple, chips with a lot of salt, then I get it.

Not to be rude but have you been tested for STD's. Or perhaps it's from eating citrus.
Good luck

The picture that you attached reminds me of what is called Geographic tongue. Which if that is the case it is completely harmless. But you should talk with your doctor about this.
