Why do I have numbness in the top right part of my stabbed thumb?

I accidentally stabbed my thumb on the outside (right) side partially on the "pad" of my thumb and to the side on my right hand on 6/14 with a very small knife while in my fiance's car. I think it went relatively deep, but I'm knit entirely sure. I just immediately pulled it out and put my thumb in my mouth for a few moments (Not good, I know) because it began bleeding severely and I couldn't readily access the napkins. It spurted onto my eyelid, the visor, dash, kennel I had on my lap, arms, and shirt. Not sure how it got all over. Anyways, I got it to stop bleeding finally agreed wrapping it in a napkin, but I ended up swallowing quite a bit of the blood, at least 2 mouthfuls (lots of bloody noses as a kid, so it didn't bother me). I washed it in cold water before switching tho a bandaid and have been letting it air out off and on. The problem, is the outside (right) side of my thumb above the cut is numb, like when an appendage starts to fall asleep. The upper inside (left side) has no numbness. There is some swelling, what appears and feels to be bruising all over the thumb pad. The cut is understandably rather painful when bothered but not unbearably so. Anyone have some answers? Feel free to ask questions!

Cat kennel? If it is 'just' an injured nerve  and not an infection, you should still have it checked. You sound young and these things can cause you problems in the future that don't seem like a problem now.  Use google images to look up cat scratch fever for example. Are you up to date with tetanus shots? Pregnant?

You may want to get it checked anyway. You have thousands of nerve endings in your skin, but just to be on the safe side, I would get it checked out.
Hydrogen peroxide is for cleaning wounds and bacteria. Rubbing alcohol should not be used on open wounds.

You could have cut nerves in your skin.
I hope you cleaned the wound well with soapy water, and applied antibiotic ointment to the cut.

I did. I decided today to wash it with alcohol after accidentally opening the scab. I went ahead and checked for infection before putting alcohol on it and thankfully there was none. But the interesting thing, is that the alcohol didn't burn. I already know I have no cold sensitivity there, but now I know there's no surface pain sensitivity either
