Swollen Lymph Node Groin and Other Pains

I have searched this site high and low and have gotten great advice, but no definitive answers.  Here is a quick recap.  June 2013 I get terrible pain in behind right testicle.  Diagnosed with Epididymitis.  Standard testing is done and no bacterial/STD cause can be found.  Shortly after a lymph node in groin swells.  First notice July 8, 2013.  Doctor says it is reactive to whatever is causing epididymitis.  over the next few weeks the testicle starts hurting less, but the node starts hurting more.  Lymph node causing pressure in groin, pain radiates to my right thigh, up through my belly on the right side, my right hip and my right flank.  The thigh, hip, flank pain is intermittent but always feeling at least one.  July 31, 2013 I get ultrasound done on groin.  result is "enlarged lymph node 19mm x 11mm x 6mm.  Mostly benign features, likely reactive.".  Now my doctor has one look at this and declares it reactive and says it will go away.  September 3 go back to the doctor to discuss increased pressure in groin and intermittent pain in extensions (thigh, flank, hip) continue and are getting a little stronger at times.  Again, doctor says it is reactive and will clear up eventually.  Here it is now October 2, 2013.  The bulge is still in my groin, hurts more now than before.  Where it was a pressure feeling when it started, now has become painful with sharp stabbing pain once in a while.  In addition, not sure if it matters or not but I have been getting up to urinate everynight between 3 and 4 am since this started.  Never used to happen before.  I'm 34 years old.  I'm not asking to get diagnosed here.  But i'm looking for next steps.  What would you suggest I do next regarding seeing a doctor and what kind of tests would you suggest I ask for?  I have got great advice in some forums here, but am still at a loss.  my doc is not worried at all.  Of course, I jump to worse case scenario and assume the lymph node is lymphoma.  My doctor thinks anxiety is getting the better of me.  I wish i could agree. However, I can't explain a swollen lymph node for over three months when no infection is found.  Please provide your thoughts if possible.
Thank you.

Hey Dizzy, I got my blood and urine results back.  all was clean and normal.  they also did a PSA test for prostate and that came back normal as well.  Tomorrow morning i go for my CT scan and ultrasound.  We are going to check on the enlarged node and check if there are any growths anywhere else in the body.  results take 3-5 days so i will be back with an update in a week or so.  take care!

We always tend to think the worst.  So sorry U got such a dismissive Dr. at first. And, am glad U somehow got around the `referral` issue.  Ur on a good path - sounds like something that needs attention but - NOT life threatening!  Here for ya!!!

So far so good.  I got another doctor.  We sat down and talked and her performed a physical examination of the areas of my body where i feel pain.  Mainly right groin and right flank.  I explained my full history and what has been done so far.  He ordered full blood and urinalysis.  including specific tests that would have specific results if lymphoma was present in the body.  In addition to this, I have an ultrasound of groin and abdomen as well as a CT scan planned for October 17, 2013 to check how the node in my groin is looking, to see if anything is present in my flank area that could be causing pain, and finally the CT to see if there are any abnormal growths anywhere else in the body.  This new doctor is as determined as I am to find out what is going on here.  After my explanation and examination he says lymphoma would not be on his list of possible conditions, but he is still willing to do whatever tests are needed to rule it in or out.  I still feel the pain and discomfort, but am mentally and emotionally better knowing i have a doctor who is working with me.

Hopefully this time my reply will go thru!  Although I am a female as I have said our Parts are pretty much the same!  N.A. U NEED TO GET TO A Dr.!I had a very similar problem many years ago. Urs seems to be the vas deferens (female eqiv. is Bartholone gland).  Either call a Urol. and don`t tell of already being seen for this, or, I really encourage the ER, as they will point U to a Urologist! (U have to get Ur prostate checked anyway!!!). When my node from the Barth. got to the size of a baseball (didn`t take long!) my gyno wanted to do surgery (force open the gland opening and sew the sides back). I had to take my Love to the airport so didn`t have the surgery.  I got home and as the pain and size so great it even interferred w/walking so - and I DO NOT suggest this - I filled the tub with HOT water (maybe thinking to numb and sterilize after opening?, don`t remember. After 1 attempt and more psyching I grabbed (sorry, but we`re past gross here) the baseball size CYST and burst it!!! The water then contained red, black and green crap!  The colors indicate  Grangrene!!! Ergo - get to a Dr. anyway U can!!! U do not want this going into Ur system. Keep us posted BUT ACT ASAP!!!

A urologist may be able to help but I'd suggest finding a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition practitioner, they will definitely work with you to find the cause of the issue. Even if a practitioner isn't close by, they can help you over the phone.

Yeah, you are right about the doctor and not the first person to offer that advice.  My prostate has not been checked.  I did an ultrasound of my pelvis and stomach to check out kidneys, spleen, and other internal stuff.  The prostate came back as at the high side of normal.  I will definitely seek out urologist.  the bad thing is here in canada, we need a referral for a specialist.  plus side is everything is free.  LOL.  no system is perfect i guess.

Well, I`d say the obvious first off is to GET ANOTHER DOCTOR (not meaning to be flippant here)!  Has your prostate been checked?  I kind of forget body parts here but I may be thinking of the vas deferens (male equivilent of the females barthalone gland).  It is a sexual lubricant gland and can get blocked (I know in a female anyway). (We`re essentially the same).  This fluid then backs up into the node.  Any soft lump, tender to the touch in the leg crease?  Please, definately, try another (maybe Urologist`s) opinion. I wouldn`t get all crazy about lymphoma, but don`t ignore your pain either. Where there is swelling you are bound to have pain on the nerves. You don`t always feel the pain where the trouble is.  Do not live in pain because of one doctor - 50% graduated at the lower half of the class ya know. I`ll be anxious to hear you got your answers and RELIEF!  Good Luck!!!
