Think, sandy saliva

I am 53 years old and have been experiencing very similar symptoms.  My saliva is thick and sandy, and if I'm not chewing gum, my mouth and throat are dry.  I have problems swallowing and the texture and taste of food is completely off.  I've seen three ENT doctors, my dentist, my family doctor, and an allergist.  No one seems to have any answers for me.  I've done some research on my own and thought it could be too much starch in my diet. I've almost completely eliminated starch from my diet over the last two months and the only relief I've had is that there is a little less grit in my saliva.  I've even tried some gentle detoxing, but that hasn't help either.  I've never experienced tarter build up in my life, but now seem to be having a huge problem with film on my teeth.  Any suggestion?

Yes. First thing in the morning, take a sip of water and then do "Oil Pulling"
(swishing)using a teaspoon of virgin organic coconut oil for 20 minutes and then spit out and rinse real well. This will ensure good oral and dental health.
you may want to repeat this after dinner also  additional protection.

The next thing to consider doing is get some artificial (I'm not a proponent
of artificial products or drugs) for the time being, until you find the cause of this.
There IS one!

Some things to rule out:
- Sialolithiasis (salivary stones)-you may need a CT scan or MRI
- Sjorgen's -Autoimmune disease targeting the salivary glands and  moisture-secreting glands of your eyes-  diagnosed by a Rheumatologist.
- Dehydration- A hallmark characteristic of dehydration is thickened saliva.
Aim for 8-10 glasses of spring water daily, taken 1 hour away from meals.
-  Post nasal drip which causes thicker saliva
- Candida fungal infection. Look for white coating on the tongue.
Limit sugars, alcohol, carbs. Try yogurt, coconut oil and probiotics.
-  GERD symptoms where acid from the stomach reaches the oral cavity affecting saliva consistency. Do a baking soda burp test or a Betaine HCL challenge to check gastric levels. Do a search for these tests.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Niko

I am sorry you are experiencing all this and that no doctor can seem to help. I might suggest seeing a naturopathic physician, sometimes they can come up with better ideas than a conventional doctor can. They know of different types of tests as well.
