Thinking "hang over"

I'm not sure how to describe it but the day after a day of reading and thinking (my favorite past time), my mind feels sluggish. My reading speed, comprehension and ability to analyze things feels impaired and I just feel tired almost like the beginning of getting a cold. Eyes even feel heavy.

I also have a problem that comes on occasionally whereas a wave of tiredness will hit me. Sometimes it will be accompanied by heart palpitations but more oft than not it's alone and I have severe trouble staying awake.

In addition, I rarely wake up feeling refreshed.

Any suggestions? Is this normal? How can I combat it?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Slow thinking can be due to depression, schizophrenia, anxiety disorder, and migraine. Please get this assessed by a psychologist and a neurologist. It can also be chronic fatigue syndrome, Vit B12 deficiency or severe anemia. Hence get this assessed, especially anemia, since you also have palpitations. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Sounds like my Fibro fog. Do you have pain? Have you had your eyes checked, if not get eye test ASAP. If you have pain look up CFS and Fibromyalgia
