Tourette's or...?

I'm 17 years old, a female, and I've been having a lot of facial tics.

Now, the reason why I'm asking is because as far as I know, I do not have Tourette's and maybe it's
something else that I probably should know about.

For the past several days I make clicking sounds with my tongue, pull my face back that stretches the neck, do this glare thing, and I just can't seem to stop. It's like, something is forcing me to, and if I don't I get really uncomfortable.

So, when I was younger I did sometimes feel the need to do some things like this, especially the tongue clicking.
I've been trying to deal with it these past several days but I can't concentrate on anything because of it, and I know I probably look really weird in front of people. Plus this stretching thing is causing pain in my neck like it's being stretched too much. I'm kind of worried.

Anybody have an idea of what it might be?

You have an interesting presentation.

Write down a timeline of symptoms on paper going back as far as you know, itemizing every symptom, the duration and intensity, and get a consult with a neurologist.

Specialists only have a few minutes to evaluate you and having this information on hand, on paper to provide them will help them in a diagnosis and decice what tests to take.

Hi.
My daughter has tourettes - her main symptoms are blinking really hard and making this tiny little whining noise  - it presented late, when she was about 15. When there are both physical tics and verbal tics (no not like cussing, cussing is rare) that helps to make the diagnosis of tourettes.

Do you have a hard time sleeping or have nightmares? That was one of our daughters main complaints. I can't tell you for sure if you have tourettes, but I CAN tell you that if so, it's very manageable and you can still live a normal happy life. My daughter is even in engineering school right now - she coped best by telling people "I have tourettes, I kind of like it so don't make fun of it" all of her friends and family know and she does very well.

I hope that you don't have tourettes, but if you do, you'll be just fine.
