Upper middle pain

I have pain un my upper middle stomach for months now.  Last April, the pain was so intense that i went to see my doctor.  I had CT of the pelvic and abdomen, and blood test for Hpylori.  All exams came back negative.  I do not know what's wrong with me after that... the doctor wanted me to have an ultrasound of my abdomen but i declined it since there is nothing really wrong in my CTs and blood test.  Was I wrong to decline it? Last night, the pain was so intense that i know that there is really something wrong with me. I don't know what to do... what exam should they give me to find out?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Pain in upper middle stomach can be due to acidity with GERD. . You will need to take a combination of medications like a proton pump inhibitor such as omeprazole,  lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into and a combination antibiotic tried.
Life style changes that will help include: Avoid heavy meals and eat frequent small meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, smoking, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food. Maybe these tips will help you.
You should consult a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system) or a physician for this if these tips reduce your symptoms.
The other possibility is that it is a referred heart pain (less likely). Hence get a EKG.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I would suggest a gall bladder ultra sound to check for gall stones.  Gall stones or sludge in the gall bladder can cause the symptoms you are having but will not show up on a CT scan, will only show up on an ultrasound.  It is your right to deny it, but I would recommend having it done.

I also have severe pelvic pain at various times---My dr after extensive test says it is related to my low back and the skeletorial way the pain raidates on my nerves because the pelvis bone and hips and low back are all connected.    Just suggested I watch what I do physically before severe pain begins  to try to see if I can limit my activiyties that irritate it
